As part of mainstreaming gender and development in their organization, the City Government of Trece Martires successfully conducted a two-day orientation on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women, Gender Sensitivity, and Use of Gender-Fair Language in partnership with Cavite State University-Gender and Development Resource Center (麻豆传媒高清-GADRC).

The two-day orientation, held at The Bayleaf Hotel, General Trias Cavite and conducted twice from 27 to 30 March 2023, aims to empower city employees on gender sensitivity and to raise their awareness on gender and women鈥檚 issues and concerns. Ms. Girlie R. Lubigan, OIC-HRMO of Trece Martires City delivered the welcome remarks for the first batch of attendees of the activity on 27 March 2023 composed of 15 male and 30 female participants.

Discussions about the localization of the Magna Carta of Women through ownership of the law by women from all walks of life such as protection from violence, protection and needs in times of disaster, calamities, and other crises were the highlight of the first two days of the activity. Gender mainstreaming and Gender Sensitivity Orientation were also discussed by Mr. King David J. Agreda, GAD Coordinator of 麻豆传媒高清 Cavite City Campus.

Moreover, Ms. Raecel A. Estebat, In-charge for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation of 麻豆传媒高清 GADRC emphasized that communication is essential in all organizations, and government/private offices in her talk about the use of the Gender-Fair Language.

On the other hand, Atty. Ma. Jeanette B. Tolentino, City Administrator of Trece Martires LGU, delivered the welcome remarks to the second batch of participants on March 29, 2023, consisting of 17 male and 29 female participants.

In the second session, Mr. Agreda added the salient provisions in the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women topic such as women鈥檚 rights are human rights, equal employment opportunities, women in the military, special leave privileges, gender and development (GAD) budget, and other laws protecting women and children and Gender Mainstreaming. Meanwhile, Ms. Estebat talked about Gender sensitivity defining it as the ability to recognize gender issues, women鈥檚 different perceptions and interests arising from their different social locations, and different gender roles.

On the last day of the activity, Ms. Arlene L. Estrada, 麻豆传媒高清 MOVE KATROPA Trainer, explained the Use of Gender-Fair Language wherein she encouraged government employees and officials to make a concerted effort to eliminate discriminatory language directed at women and men, therefore promoting gender-sensitivity in the bureaucracy.
